Images of Egypt Workshop

Posted: 23 December, 2016

The PriArc workshops take place twice a year, gathering the research team and distinguished guests. This first workshop takes place at The Oslo School of Architecture and Design 30-31 January 2017 and is dedicated to the topic of replica/copy/quote: the way images and monuments travel, in various media, through time and space. Using Egypt as our primary example, we will study the circulation of Egyptian imagery from Winckelmann to Hassan Fathy and beyond, discussing the effect of this dissemination on European architecture, art, fashion, and fiction. Egypt, disseminated in print, provided modern Europe with a new past.
