Maruška Svašek is Senior Lecturer in Anthropology at the School of History and Anthropology, Queens University Belfast. She has published widely on the topics of art and material culture, migration, emotional dynamics and belonging. In 2006 and 2007, Svašek organized three AHRC-funded international interdisciplinary conferences at Queens University Belfast on migration and emotion that resulted in two special issues of the Journal of Ethnic and Migration Studies and the Journal of Intercultural Studies. She is currently finalizing an edited volume for Berghahn, entitled Moving Subjects, Moving Objects. Transnationalism, Cultural Production and Emotions. In 2007, Svašek established the Cultural Dynamics and Emotions Network (CDEN) with Dr. Kala Shreen (MOP Vaishnay College for Women, Chennai, India). CDEN stimulates international and interdisciplinary research on cultural dynamics and emotional processes, and facilitates transnational teaching and research on emotions.
